ITR Filing Due Date Extended: There is news of relief for those who have not yet filed Income Tax Return (ITR). The government has extended the deadline for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for corporates. Now the new deadline to file ITR for assessment year 2021-22 is March 15. This means that corporate taxpayers can file their income tax returns till March 15.

Apart from extending the deadline for ITR filing, the CBDT has also extended the date for submission of audit reports and ‘Transfer Pricing Audit’ till February 15, 2022. This is the third time that the deadline for filing income tax returns for 2020-21 has been extended for companies. The last date for filing income tax returns for companies was October 31. On the other hand, the date of submission of report for ‘transfer pricing’ deals was November 30.

CBDT statement

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in a statement on Tuesday that in view of the difficulties being faced by taxpayers and other concerned parties in electronic submission of COVID and separate audit reports for the assessment year 2021-22 (FY 2020). -21) has been extended the last date for submission of income tax returns and various audit reports. According to the department, the last date for filing income tax returns for companies is March 15 and the deadline for submission of tax audit reports is now February 15, 2022.

It is to be noted that the deadline has not been extended for ordinary taxpayers. The last date for filing ITR without penalty for individual taxpayers was December 31, which has expired. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has given this information by tweeting. CBDT says that taxpayers were facing difficulties in filing returns amid the spurt in cases of corona infection, hence the deadline for filing ITR has been extended. This is the third time that the deadline for filing ITR for the financial year 2020-21 has been extended.
