New Delhi. The Income Tax Department has given a big relief to the taxpayers. Actually, the department has made a big change in the process of faceless assessment. Under this change, appeals and personal hearings have been made easier for taxpayers. Now on appeal against tax recovery or notice, the matter can also be heard through video conferencing or video calling.
Till now, under the Faceless Assessment Scheme, taxpayers had to send all the information online through email. Apart from this, if you had to put your point in front of the officer, then special permission had to be taken for that. This was possible only with the permission of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax or the Director General of the Faceless Appeal Center. But now the Central Board of Direct Taxes ie CBDT has done the work of simplifying this long process and has got rid of the problems like getting permission.
New facility will be provided based on the demand of taxpayers
According to the statement issued by the CBDT, this new facility will be provided on the basis of the demand of the taxpayers. This means that if the taxpayers want, they can also put their point in front of the Income Tax Officer through video conferencing or video calling. Simplifying the process of faceless assessment will surely bring a big relief to the taxpayers.
Faceless scheme was started in September 2020
It is worth noting that CBDT had started the faceless scheme in September 2020. The purpose of this scheme is that taxpayers make payment of tax and file returns online.
