ITR Refund: A big news is coming out regarding ITR file. Out of those who filed ITR for the financial year 2023-24, about 12 lakh people have not received tax refund. This information was given by Minister of State for Finance Ministry Pankaj Chaudhary in Rajya Sabha. He told that out of a total of 3.68 crore income tax returns, 3.56 crore people have got refund.
Refund could not be credited in about 12 lakh returns. Many reasons have been given for this. This includes things like wrong bank account registered in ITR, non-linking of PAN and Aadhaar, outstanding amount etc. Apart from this, some taxpayers have not responded to the notice sent by the Income Tax Department. Due to this the refund process has not been completed.
Refund of 12 lakh people has not been credited
The first reason for non-crediting of refund in these 12 lakh cases is that the bank account was wrong or not updated. The second reason is that in many cases PAN and Aadhaar were not linked. Due to this the refund process could not be completed. The third reason is that dues are pending under Section 245(1) and 245(2) of the Income Tax Act. In some cases, the notice was not responded to by the taxpayers.
