Technical flaw : The Income Tax Department had launched a new portal in June 2021, after which there was a technical problem for a long time. Your refund may also get stuck due to the same technical issue.
Lack of documents : Lack of additional documents can also be a major reason for the delay in getting refund. To solve this problem, you can talk to the tax officer and resubmit the necessary documents.
Non-verification of Income Tax Return : Verification is also one of the reasons for not getting refund. If your ITR is not verified within the stipulated time frame, then it will be considered invalid. Under the Income Tax Act, 1961, ITRs that are not verified become invalid.
Bank related information : Even if there has been a change in the bank details, even then there may be a delay in getting your refund. If the information like mobile number and e-mail of your primary account will continue to be received from the new account, then only the account will be valid. If the information has been changed then a warning will appear on the portal.
You can check refund status like this
- Login to the Income Tax Portal using User ID Password.
- Go to My Account and click on ‘Refund/Demand Status’.
- All the information will come in front of you. If the refund has not been done, then you can check the status immediately by going to ‘Reason’.
