Steps to Check Tax Refund Online: The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in the update that the Income Tax Department has processed more than 6 crore tax returns out of 6.84 crore verified so far for the assessment year 2023-24.
New Delhi: According to the Income Tax Department, a total of 6.77 ITRs were filed for the financial year 2022-23 till the last date of 31 July 2023, out of which 6 crore ITRs have been processed for further processing. At the same time, till now tax refund has been issued to 2.45 crore taxpayers. To find out whether you have received a tax refund or not, you will have to check the refund status online.
6.98 crore ITR file
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said in an update that the Income Tax Department has processed more than 6 crore tax returns out of 6.84 crore verified so far for the assessment year 2023-24. Till September 5, 2023, 6.98 crore ITRs have been filed. Whereas, 6.77 crore ITRs were filed till July 31.
Tax refund of more than Rs 2.45 crore issued
According to the Central Board of Direct Taxes, out of the total 6.98 crore ITRs filed, tax refunds of over 2.45 crore have already been issued and it is in the process of expeditiously issuing the remaining income tax returns.
Income tax sends messages on e-mail and mobile
Taxpayers who have not yet received tax refund or have not come to know about it, then such taxpayers will have to check their tax refund status online. For this, the status has to be checked by visiting the official website incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. By the way, whenever refund comes in your account, information comes on your registered mobile and email address. But apart from this you can also check the status online.
How to check tax refund status online
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of Income Tax Department incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
- Now you have to enter your user ID, PAN card and captcha code.
- Now the option to see the tax return has to be selected.
- After this, in choosing an option, click on Income Tax Return.
- You can check your tax refund status after selecting the assessment year and submitting it.
