The Income Tax Department has once again appealed to the taxpayers to file their returns soon. New Delhi. Now only 6 days are left for filing Income Tax Return (ITR) for the financial year 2021-22 and till now half of the total estimated taxpayers have not filed the return. Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department is continuously appealing to the people to submit their returns within the stipulated time.
Actually, a large number of taxpayers expect the deadline for ITR to increase this year as well as in the last two years. However, the government and departments have already indicated that this time the date for filing income tax returns will not be extended. The Revenue Secretary had clearly said last week that the government is in no mood to extend the date of return this time. Therefore, taxpayers should try to file their return before July 31.
What did the income tax department say
The Income Tax Department tweeted on July 25 that more than 3 crore ITRs have been filed so far for the assessment year 2022-23. Its deadline is July 31, which is slowly getting closer. Taxpayers who have not yet filed their returns are appealed to file ITR within the stipulated time. The department has not given any indication about extending the time once again. It is only through ITR that the taxpayer gets a refund on the tax deducted or he has to deposit the outstanding tax.
