Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana Assembly Election 2024 dates announced: Check full schedule

The Election Commission on Friday announced the dates for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar released the schedule for the assembly elections in a press conference with his fellow election commissioners. He said that elections will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir, while in Haryana, elections will be held in one phase. Results of both will also be declared on 4 October

When asked about the assembly elections in Maharashtra, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “Recently, Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections were held together. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir in three phases from September 18. Voting will take place. Voting will take place on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.

The Election Commission said that there are a total of 90 assembly constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir, out of which 74 are reserved for General, 7 for SC and 9 for ST. There are a total of 87.09 lakh voters in Jammu and Kashmir, including 44.46 lakh men, 42.62 lakh women, 3.71 lakh first time voters and 20.7 lakh young voters.

CEC Rajiv Kumar said that the Amarnath Yatra will end on August 19 and the final voter list will be released on August 20, the very next day.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said, “We held meetings with political parties in Jammu and Kashmir and they all wanted the elections to be held as soon as possible.”

Complete schedule of Haryana assembly elections

At the same time, Haryana assembly elections will be held in a single phase on October 1. Counting of votes for both the elections will be done simultaneously on October 4.

According to the timeline given by the Election Commission, a gazette notification will be issued on September 9. Nominations are to be submitted by September 12. The elections will be held on October 1 (Tuesday) and the counting of votes will take place on Friday, October 4, the same week.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar told in a press conference that there are a total of 90 assembly seats in Haryana. There are 2.01 crore voters for the assembly in Haryana. Voting will be held at 20,629 polling stations in Haryana.

There is a possibility of a four-cornered contest between BJP, Congress, JJP and AAP in Haryana. The term of the current government will end on November 3.
