Jammu Kashmir Encounter: Terrorists seeking refuge in Pampore Mosque, 8 terrorists killed in 24 hours

Srinagar, A total of 8 terrorists have been killed in the ongoing encounter between militants and security forces in Kashmir’s Avantipora and Shopian since  yesterday morning. Three militants were killed in Awantipora area of ​​district Pulwama while five others were killed in Shopian district. A militant was killed on last Thursday in an encounter with security forces in Miz village of Avantipora area, after which two other militants took refuge inside a mosque in the village.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that the security forces showed their skills along with patience. There was neither firing nor use of IEDs on the terrorists hiding in the mosque. Our soldiers took full care of the sanctity of the mosque and tear gas bullets were used to evacuate the terrorists from the mosque. Both the terrorists were given a chance to surrender but were killed when they continued firing on it as well. The IGP said that there are no terrorists in the mosque anymore. All these terrorists were from the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) organization. At the moment, the siege of the entire area continues. 



At the same time, in the second encounter in Bandpawa village of District Shopian, four terrorists have been killed on Friday, while here also a terrorist was killed by security forces on last Thursday. Police said that the five militants killed here were from the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen organization. Security forces are still conducting search operations in the area to search for terrorists. DGP Police Dilbag Singh said that there was no damage to the security forces during both these operations. He told that the Shopian operation is still going on while the Avantipora operation has ended. Internet service in Avantipora and Shopian has been closed due to security reasons. This is the fifth encounter in Shopian during this month.

According to the information received from the police, the encounter between the security forces and the militants started again in the afternoon in Avantipora. In this encounter that started on Thursday, the security forces had killed a terrorist till noon. The firing then came to an abrupt halt. Due to the presence of terrorists, the search operation continued in the area. During this period, other militants hiding in the area started firing again after seeing the security forces in front. When the security forces retaliated, the terrorists left from there and hid in a mosque in Miz village. Their number was said to be close to two. The security personnel  were not taking major action against the terrorists as there was no damage to the mosque  . However, the security forces surrounded the mosque.



At the same time, terrorists were reported by some people in Bandpawa village of Imam Sahib of District Shopian of South Kashmir. A joint team of 44 RR and CRPF of Police, Army, cordoned off the area and started searching for terrorists. As the joint team of security forces moved towards the suspicious location, the hidden terrorists opened fire on them. These terrorists were hiding in the garden. Bullets from both of them lasted for about an hour. Meanwhile a terrorist was killed. Seeing the security forces dominate, the terrorists escaped from there after getting a chance. Security forces say that they have laid siege to the whole area, terrorists cannot go out of the village. He is still taking shelter somewhere in the village, he will be found soon.

It is worth mentioning that 21 terrorists, including several top commanders of terrorist organizations, have been killed this month in Shopian district alone.
