Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to be rebuilt at a cost of Rs 8000 crore

New Delhi The Union Sports Ministry has decided to rebuild Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN Stadium). The Sports Ministry is going to spend 8000 crore rupees on this stadium to change its design, so that this stadium will be made world class.

Regarding this, the Sports Ministry says that this stadium will be designed in such a way that it can host Olympics and other big international sports competitions in future. The NITI Aayog has suggested to the Sports Ministry to redevelop the stadium.

The Sports Ministry has recommended the formation of a five-member consultancy team, which will include a sports infrastructure management specialist. In addition to Delhi, the country’s capital, a world-class cricket stadium has been built at Motera in Ahmedabad, which includes other facilities.



1 basketball court will be built with international level facilities

2 badminton courts will also be ready at JLN Stadium with international level facilities

4 table tennis courts will also be prepared in this stadium

The 10 meter shooting academy will also be built at JLN Stadium

There is also a plan to design a swimming pool with 1 Olympic size facilities.

The 3/4/5 star hotel and service apartment will also be built in the stadium itself



Apart from 2027 Asian Football Championships, India has expressed interest in hosting 2026 Youth Olympics, 2030 Asian Games and 2032 Olympics.

The stadium in New Delhi, spread over 102 acres, was constructed for the 1982 Asian Games.

The stadium was built earlier for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and when it cost Rs 961 crore.

It has a seating capacity of 61000 people and currently has an indoor weightlifting auditorium, football field, two athletic tracks, two badminton halls, a table tennis hall, an archery training area and other sports facilities.
