Former director of IIT Madras will be the new chairman of the board
According to a notification issued by the ministry, “It has been decided to reconstitute JEE Apex Board for the smooth conduct of JEE Main and Advanced examination in the year 2022 and 2023.” It will be headed by Professor Bhaskar Ramamurthy, former director of IIT Madras.
Its members will include directors of IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Jaipur, IIT Rourkela, IIT Bangalore, IIT Nagpur and IITDM Kurnool.
Other members of the board include representatives from the states of Karnataka, Gujarat, Bihar and Haryana, representatives of SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chairman of CBSE, Director General of NIC, Director General of C-DAC, Additional Secretary/Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Education and National Examinations. The Director General of the Agency will be involved.
New board will have permanent secretariat
As per the notification, the JEE Apex Board (JAB) will have a permanent secretariat, which will be made available by the National Examination Agency. The JAB will be the final authority to decide the policies and rules regarding the conduct of JEE Main examination, which will also coordinate with the JEE Advanced Group and its Chairman.
The first phase examination will be held on June 20
In order to make the system of JEE Main and JEE Advanced more transparent and better, the Education Ministry has constituted JAB, which will replace the earlier working boards. The tenure of the previous board ended on 31 March 2022. It is worth noting that the first phase of JEE Main exam is to be held from June 20.
