Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme:
Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme/ Jharkhand Rajya Khadya Suraksha Yojana (JRKSY) has been approved by the Jharkhand State Cabinet on 8th September 2020. It is a separate scheme which will guarantee 5 kg of monthly subsidized foodgrains to poor people. The new scheme (JRKSY) will cover around 18 lakh people, covered by the National Food Security Act (NFSA).



Under (JRKSY), beneficiaries will get Rs 1 per kilogram each. Applications for (JRKSY) can be made through online mode. The beneficiaries will be separated on the basis of wards in urban local bodies, district, block and panchayat levels and their names will be published online.

The new (JRKSY) will cost Rs 213 crore per annum on the exchequer. Currently, there are around 28 lakh people in Jharkhand who are outside the purview of NFSA.

Important Features of Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme:-

Jharkhand State Cabinet has approved jrksy food security scheme on 8th September 2020.

In this scheme, the government will provide 5 kg of foodgrains to the poor people at an approved rate.



The scheme will cover about 18 lakh beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Each beneficiary will get foodgrains at a price of Rs 1 per kg.

Online applications will be invited for enrolment in JRKSY scheme on state government portal or newly dedicated portal.

Jharkhand govt will separate beneficiaries on ward basis at ULBs, district, block and panchayat levels.

The state government will spend Rs 213 crore on this food security scheme in Jharkhand.

So far, there are more than 28 lakh people who are not included in the list of NFSA beneficiaries. All those who are eligible can apply for ration cards through online or offline mode to be enrolled in the National Food Security Act.
