Lucknow [Saurabh Shukla]. Government Jubilee Inter College located on City Station Road has become the first English medium school in the state. It has been announced by the Department of Secondary Education. In this session, classes will be conducted in the school from Hindi as well as English Medium. In this episode, Director Secondary Education has written a letter to the Joint Education Director of all the boards to select a state school in each district of the state to operate with English medium.
English medium will be one section each of classes six, nine and 11
College principal Dhirendra Mishra said that in the new semester, admissions are made for classes six, nine and 11. Each of these three classes will be conducted through an English section. In this, along with taking newly admitted children, the children who have passed out will also be there.
There are around 1300 children in college
- In class six: two sections are operated.
- In class nine: two sections are operated.
- In class 11: Two sections are operated.
- Number of children in each section: 40-45.
- Number of state colleges in the capital: 51
History of Government Jubilee College
Principal Dhirendra Mishra said that it was established on 24 March 1887 in Aga Mir Dhyodi by the name of Jubilee High School. Earlier in 1885, Samaj Sevi Munshi Naval Kishore sent a proposal to the then Inspector of Schools Awadh Jesse Nesfield to build the school. After that Mallika Jahan’s Baradari aka Alathikar Dhyodi was identified as the school site. At the same time Silver Jubilee was done in the year 1985 under the rule of Queen Victoria. Hence Jubilee was added before its name. In the year 1922, it was recognized as Inter College.

According to DIOS Dr. Mukesh Kumar Singh, ‘The government has given instructions to conduct classes with English medium in a government college in every district. Government Jubilee College in Lucknow has been selected for this. From this session, one section each in classes six, nine and 11 will be conducted through English medium. The admission process for the new session has started.
