A major accident took place during fireworks at a temple near Neeleshwaram in Kasaragod district in Kerala. More than 150 people were injured in this accident, out of which eight are seriously injured. The injured have been taken to various hospitals in Kasaragod, Kannur and Mangaluru. It is suspected that this accident has happened due to fire in the firecracker storage near Veerarkavu temple.

A festival was being celebrated late at night at Anchutambalam Veerarkavu temple. During this, a fire broke out in the firecracker storage and a big explosion took place in no time. The accident happened around midnight on Monday.

Fireworks were ordered for the festival in the temple
Giving information on the accident, the police said, “The annual Kaliyattam festival was being celebrated at Anjuthambalam Veerarkavu temple. Fireworks were ordered for the festival in the temple. It was kept safely in a storage. Meanwhile, at 12:30 in the night, there was a sudden explosion in the storage. All the fireworks started burning one after the other.”
The police further said that when the fire broke out in the store, there was a huge crowd of devotees in the temple at that time. People present in the crowd started making videos of this fire. The fire was so fierce that more than 150 people got caught in it in no time. All were immediately admitted to the hospital. The condition of 8 is critical. After the fire broke out, fire brigade vehicles were immediately called.
