The Union Government on Monday launched a nationwide campaign to provide Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) to all eligible animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries farmers in the country . Through this, the target is to enroll about two crore people in the next three months. The Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Purushottam Rupala launched the ‘Nationwide AHDF KCC Campaign’ from November 15, 2021 to February 15, 2022. Under which all those eligible farmers are to be included who are involved in various animal husbandry activities like cattle rearing, goat, pig, poultry farming. Similarly, credit facility will also be given to the fishermen.
The government had announced the extension of KCC facility to livestock farmers and fishermen in the budget of the year 2018-19. in order to help them meet their working capital requirements. Addressing the event, Rupala said that the objective of the campaign is to provide KCC to all eligible animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries farmers in the country and ensure that they get institutional credit.
How much loan will be available for animal husbandry and fisheries?Â
Earlier , the benefit of KCC was available only to the farmers. But later the experts realized that, apart from the farmers doing agriculture, people working in other similar professions should also get the benefit of KCC. After which the government took advantage of KCC to give the benefit of fisheries and animal husbandry also to the people. Let us tell you that farmers cultivating in KCC get a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh from the government. Whereas for animal husbandry and fisheries, only up to Rs 2 lakh loan is given in this.
Now no fee will have to be paid for KCC –Â
Earlier, applicants had to spend three-four thousand rupees to get KCC made. In which processing fee, inspection and ledger folio charges were charged. But now the government has put an end to this process. The benefit of which will be given to the card holder with a limit of up to Rs 3 lakh. At the same time, people doing animal husbandry and fisheries will also get direct benefit of this initiative. Because till now the government has got approval to give them only loan up to Rs 2 lakh.
The government has set a target of giving loan of Rs 16.5 lakh crore –Â
The central government has set a target of distributing agricultural loans of Rs 16.5 lakh crore in the financial year 2021-22. Out of this, loans worth Rs 14 lakh crore have been given to the farmers. The Central Government had started a campaign on the last day of February 2020 to reach KCC to all the farmers including the beneficiaries of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme. Under which more than 2.51 crore KCCs have been issued.
