Kisan Pehchaan Patra: The central government is preparing to provide digital ID to all the farmers of the country. For this, the state governments have been instructed to create digital ID soon. In this, the government aims to provide digital identity to 11 crore farmers. In which 6 crore farmers will be covered in the financial year 2024-25

India is an agricultural country. A large section here is dependent on farming. Indian farmers are always looking for new technology and solutions. So that farming can be made more productive and profitable. In this direction, the government has taken the initiative of Kisan Digital ID Card. This can bring revolutionary change in Indian agriculture. Meanwhile, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) has instructed the states to create digital ID for farmers soon. It has been named Kisan Pehchan Patra. This is a unique initiative of the Central Government. It will be linked to the Aadhar card farming records of the farmers.

Let us tell you that Kisan Pehchan Patra is a unique Aadhaar-linked digital identity, which will be linked to the land records of the state. It will include important data like demographic details, crops grown and land owner information. It will also contain information about the crops sown.

11 crore farmers will get digital identity

According to media reports, the government aims to create digital identity of 11 crore farmers. Out of which 6 crore farmers will be covered in FY 2024-25, three crore in FY 2025-26 and two crore farmers in 2026-27. This is the reason why the Center has now directed the states to expedite the provision of Kisan ID. For this, it has been encouraged to adopt camp-mode registration approach. On November 28, the Ministry of Agriculture has sent a letter to all the states in this matter. According to a report, the Agriculture Ministry will create a “farmer registry” from the Kisan ID. It will be part of the Agri Stack under the Digital Agriculture Mission of the Central Government. This mission was approved by the Union Cabinet earlier this year.

States will get incentives from the central government

The Union Agriculture Ministry has instructed the states to set up camps. So that the digital ID of farmers can be prepared soon. Along with this, the central government has announced to give incentives to the states for setting up camps. In this, a grant of up to Rs 15,000 will be given for each camp. Apart from this, the central government will give an additional incentive of Rs 10 to the state on every farmer ID. These incentives will be given from the budget of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme.

Farmer IDs are being made rapidly in these states

According to information received from sources, the work of making farmer IDs is going on rapidly in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. At the same time, in Assam, Chhattisgarh and Odisha, it is in the field testing phase. In other states, this work is going on in different phases.
