In addition to Shramik Special trains, Indian Railways has run about 200 mail or express trains for which you have to book not through the ticket counter but through IRCTC website or app. People do not have much problem while booking tickets but due to lack of knowledge of rules while canceling tickets, a lot of their money goes as cancellation charge.


In such a situation, if you know what is the cancellation charge of the railway while canceling the ticket and how much cancellation of the ticket is right, then you can save your money and also avoid the hassle of waste. So here we will give you information about the cancellation charge and refund money of e-ticket.

Know about refund money for train e-tickets


Sleeper class: If you cancel your confirmed ticket for sleeper class 48 hours before the train starts, then the cancellation charge will be deducted according to your Rs 120 per passenger. That is, if you have a train at 4 o’clock on Monday, you will have to pay 120 rupees as cancellation charge if you cancel the ticket before 4 o’clock on Saturday.

Third AC: Third AC or AC 3 tier confirmed ticket, if you cancel 48 hours in advance, then you have to pay Rs 180 per ticket, that is, per passenger.


Second AC: If you cancel a ticket for the same period of second AC 48 hours in advance, then you have to pay a cancellation charge of Rs 200 per passenger.

First AC: If you cancel a confirmed ticket of First AC 48 hours before, then you have to pay a cancellation charge of Rs 240.

Cancellation cancellation charges from 12 hours to chart making

If you cancel the ticket 12 hours before the train starts, then you have to pay 25% of the fare as cancellation charge.


On the other hand, if you cancel a ticket in the period between 12 hours of running of the train and making the chart, then you will have to pay 50 percent of the fare as cancellation charge.

In this way, if you keep these rules in mind, then you will not have to pay much money in the form of cancellation charge to the railways.
