New Delhi, Business Desk. The government recently extended the deadline for linking PAN to Aadhaar on 31 March 2021. Those who have not yet linked their PAN card to Aadhaar number, can do this work till this date. PAN cards which are not linked to the base by this deadline will be deactivated and there is a provision for penalty for using such passive PAN cards. Let us know how the PAN card can be linked to Aadhaar.

PAN number can be easily linked to 12-digit Aadhaar card number through e-filing portal (www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in). Apart from this, PAN number can also be linked to Aadhaar through SMS. For this, you have to write the message in UIDPAN <12digit Aadhaar> <10digitPAN> format and SMS it to the number 567678 or 56161. PAN number can also be linked to Aadhaar card through offline. For this, PAN service centers of NSDL and UTITSL will have to be contacted.

Check status like this
Step 1. First go to the e-filing website www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
Step 2. Now click on the Quick Links tab on the left side of the screen and go to the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option.
Step 3. On the opening of the link Aadhaar page, there will be an option to know the status for those who have requested PAN-Aadhaar linking at the top of the page. Click on it.
Step 4. Now on the next page you have to enter your information and after that click on ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’.
Step 5. Now you will be told in the next page whether your PAN card is linked with Aadhaar or not.
