New York (United Nations). Concerns of global leaders have come to the fore in the Global Vaccine Conference that started in the midst of the Kovid-19 epidemic. This concern was not only about the corona virus and its vaccine, but also about the impact of other vaccination programs in times of crisis. All the leaders, including the UN Secretary-General, believed that in this crisis, those diseases whose vaccine is available. Apart from this, it also came out of concern that if the corona virus becomes a vaccine, then it has to be sure to reach people.

Addressing the same virtual meeting, UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutarais said that the epidemic Kovid-19 is the biggest crisis ever for the current generation. To overcome this challenge, having a vaccine alone is not enough in itself, but it has to be looked at even further. He said that once the vaccine is made, it has to be ensured to make it available to everyone and everyone with a sense of solidarity. For this we will need global solidarity.

According to him, there were three important motives behind organizing the Global Vaccine Conference. The first objective in this was to stop the Kovid-19 and collectively make financial arrangements for its medicines. Its second objective was to strengthen the resolutions for regular immunization programs. Its third objective was to raise resources for diseases that could be prevented. The meeting, chaired by Britain, was attended by many leaders from around the world and they also laid out a roadmap for their plan for equal availability of vaccines.

At this virtual summit, the UN Secretary-General said that the problem of Kovid-19 has made the availability of medicines a global agenda. He described these drugs as the most important milestone in human history. He said that due to this, success has been achieved in saving crores of lives. These have helped in the prevention of diseases like smallpox, measles, rubella and other diseases including tetanus. He said that the vaccine for Kovid-19 should be seen as a public vaccine. It means a medicine that works for everyone.

Gutarais has also praised the efforts being made by the vaccine Alliance, named GAVI, and its partner organizations. He said that due to these, access to medicines could be ensured to all age and income groups. The United Nations is proud to be a part of this effort towards public health coverage. But a lot still remains to be done. According to him, more than two million children worldwide have not received the full dose of the vaccine, while one in every five children has not received the vaccine at all.

He also expressed concern over the difficulties faced in vaccination programs and the distribution of drugs globally. On this occasion, he has appealed to fulfill the three resolutions. He said that the most important task would be to ensure the delivery of the vaccine in a safe manner even in the event of Covid-19 spread. Through them, other primary health services can also be delivered at a lower level. Apart from this, after the availability of the vaccine, it will be very important to ensure that it is available to everyone. The UN Secretary-General said that the disease does not know the boundaries. A fully funded GAVI is therefore necessary to continue progress towards sustainable development goals. India has announced Rs 113 for this.

PM Modi, who participated on behalf of India in this summit, said that India is not only making financial contribution to it, but also wants to reduce the prices of medicines globally. He said that in this hour of crisis, India stands with the whole world combed by comb. India is working full capacity in the manufacture of medicines including this epidemic and wants their prices to be lowered. He also said that India’s own experience suggests that vaccination should be expanded more. In this regard, scientists in our country are also engaging with full vigor.

At the summit, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that vaccines work well and that regular immunization programs are now available for 86 percent of children. He said that it is extremely important to work with organizations for capacity building and vaccine distribution to meet this challenge during the global pandemic. Apart from him, Jordan’s King Abdullah bin Al-Hussein said that the guarantee of equal access is not only ethical and just but also in the interest of the entire international community.

According to Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, it will be necessary that efforts to prevent the spread of other infectious diseases due to the Kovid epidemic have no effect. It has to be ensured that even in this difficult time, such diseases can be fought which can be prevented by vaccine. Ethiopia’s President Sahle-Vork Jwede stressed the importance of vaccination programs. He said that the scope of regular vaccination has been increased from 30 percent in the year 2000 to 72 percent.
