The Kusum scheme is being run by the government with the aim of promoting solar energy. Under this, solar pumps are being installed for irrigation on subsidy to the farmers. In Rajasthan, a target has been set by the government to provide solar pumps to 25 thousand farmers by the 30th of this September.




Let us inform that under the last budget announcement in the state of Rajasthan, 25 thousand solar pumps are to be installed in the state. In which work orders have been issued for installation of about 22 thousand pumps, for the remaining 3 thousand pumps also, the Principal Secretary has said to issue work orders before the due date of 30 September.

Along with this, the Principal Secretary, Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Bhaskar A Sawant directed to issue work orders for all 25,000 solar pumps targeted under Kusum Yojana by September 30. The Principal Secretary to the Government said that under the last budget announcement, 25 thousand solar pumps are to be installed in the state. Work orders have been issued for installation of about 22 thousand pumps, for the remaining 3 thousand pumps also make sure to issue work orders before the due date 30 September.




Instructions to give the benefit of micro irrigation to the tenants

While reviewing the micro irrigation scheme, the Principal Secretary gave instructions to benefit the tenants by verifying the applications received soon. Expressing displeasure over the districts with high pendency of verification, he directed the responsible officers to issue clarification notices.

50 thousand solar pumps to be installed this year

Informing about the progress of departmental schemes, Commissioner of Horticulture Department Abhimanyu Kumar said that in compliance with the budget announcement for the year 2020-21, administrative approval of 25 thousand solar pumps and work orders of 21 thousand 845 have been issued. Out of these, 17 thousand 530 pumps have been installed by supplying 18 thousand 808 pumps. He informed that the target of installing 50 thousand solar pumps has been achieved from the Central Government this year. For this, firm empanement work is being done at the central government level, till then instructions have been received from the previous empaneled firms to install 25 percent solar pumps, for which action has been started.

How much subsidy is being given on solar pump in the state

The farmers are being given the benefit of subsidy on the solar pumps being installed by the state under the Kusum scheme . Under this, 30 percent central assistance, 30 percent state assistance and remaining 40 percent contribution will be paid by the farmer for the benchmark cost or tender cost, whichever is less, of the cost of stand alone solar agriculture pump, of which only 10 percent. The farmer will pay and the remaining 30 percent will be given financial assistance from the bank in the form of loan. That is, 60 percent subsidy will be given to farmers on solar power pump plants. Farmers can take loans up to 30 percent of the amount from the farmer’s share of 40 percent, so that they will have to pay only 10 percent of the amount.


Solar pumps will be given to 50 thousand farmers in Haryana this year

Under Kusum Yojana, Haryana has been set a target of installing 15,000 solar pumps at a cost of Rs 520 crore. So far, Haryana Government has achieved the target of installing 14,418 solar pumps. Along with this, Haryana has got the first place in implementing this scheme across the country. In Haryana, marginal farmers of Haryana and farmers irrigating with diesel pump have got the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha and Utthan Mahabhiyan. 105 MW of electricity is being generated in the state from solar panels.

Up to 75 percent subsidy is available on solar pumps in Haryana

Although 60 percent subsidy is given to farmers in most of the states under Kusum Yojana , but in Haryana, standalone solar pumps of 3 HP to 10 HP capacity are being installed with 75 percent subsidy. Under this scheme, the Government of India is providing 30 percent central financial assistance and the state government 45 percent subsidy. Farmers have to pay only 25 per cent of the total pump cost. Under this scheme, solar pump can be used for irrigation / water user association / community / cluster based irrigation system etc. Along with this, insurance will be made for the maintenance of solar pump, damage due to disaster and compensation for theft. Solar pump insurance lasts for 5 years.

The demand from farmers for installing solar pumps is so high that against the target of 15,000 pumps, 14,418 solar pumps have been given by the central government so far. While the department has received more than 42,000 online applications for solar pumps. In view of this response, the department has set a target of setting up 22,000 pumps with a total project cost of Rs 844 crore for the current financial year and for this soon after the finalization of rates and firms by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. What is Kusum Yojana

  • Domicile certificate of the farmer applying
  • land papers in the name of the farmer
  • Registered mobile number of the farmer applying
  • Passport size photograph of the applicant farmer
  • Farmer’s Income Certificate
