According to the news, under pressure from Apple and Foxconn, the Karnataka government has made some changes in the labor laws. After this change, now even in Karnataka, companies can work in two shifts instead of three in their factories. At the same time, due to increasing tension between America and China, companies are shifting their production from China.

Foxconn will invest so much-

In this sequence, Foxconn is now going to set up a 300-acre plant (Foxconn Bengaluru Plant) near Bengaluru Airport. The plant will be set up by Foxconn’s flagship unit Hon Hai Precision Industry Company, which makes iPhones for Apple. For this, the company can make a huge investment of $700 million (Foxconn India Investment). It is being claimed that about 01 lakh employment opportunities can be created from the proposed plant.

Changes made in the Factories Act-

According to the latest news from the Financial Times, Apple and Foxconn were lobbying to make labor laws flexible in the state. Due to this, the state government has made changes in the Factories Act. After this change, the labor law in Karnataka has now become the most flexible. However, the reactions to this change are mixed. Where on one hand some people claim that this will help in making Karnataka a manufacturing hub, while on the other hand people associated with labor organizations are calling the change anti-labour.
