Meta has asked the company’s managers to announce the layoffs on Wednesday. Under this, the employees working in Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Reality Lab are going to be retrenched. The company has done layoffs in the past to cut costs and this is also a part of that. 10,000 employees are going to lose their jobs in this round of layoffs, which was announced by Mark Zuckerberg in March. Apart from this, there is a possibility of another round of layoffs in May.

13 percent of the employees have been retrenched

Meta already cut about 13% of its workforce, or about 11,000 jobs, in November. Apart from this, the company had also stopped hiring in the first quarter for cost cutting. According to Zuckerberg’s comments, the company wants to downsize while shuffling its team.

With this, the company aims to re-balance the ratio of technologists and engineers to business and administrative staff. A message sent to managers indicated that teams would be re-organized and individual remaining employees would be reassigned to work under new managers.
