The company has clarified that LIC never asks customers for their policy or bank related information through phone, SMS, WhatsApp or email. In such a situation, if any person or organization does this, then it is a fraud.

What has the company said?

LIC has issued a public notice saying that customers should not trust any unknown call, message or email and should not respond to any such message in which financial profit is being claimed.

LIC has cautioned its customers not to share their policy details, banking information or any other personal information with any unknown person or organization. Apart from this, LIC has also shared its official WhatsApp number 8976862090, through which customers can confirm any suspicious activity.

What to do if you receive a fake call or message?

If a customer receives a fake call or message, he can immediately inform LIC at spuriouscalls@licindia.com. Apart from this, complaints of online financial fraud can also be lodged on the National Cyber Crime Portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in/) or help can be taken by calling the cyber crime helpline number 1930.

LIC says that to avoid such cyber fraud, customers should always be alert and use only the official website.

Not only LIC, but Shriram Life Insurance also recently warned customers about a similar cyber fraud. According to the company, fraudsters send fake messages in the name of LIC or any other insurance company and lure customers that they will get a bonus on their policy. For this, they ask for bank details and other personal information. If a person falls for their words and shares his banking information, then the fraudsters can steal money from that account.
