Canara Bank is allowing senior citizens to book slots to submit their life certificates through video calls from October 1, 2024. This means that pensioners can now complete this process from home. They will not need to visit the bank branch. Although the facility of life certificate submission through video was already available, this new facility will make this process easier for pensioners.

What is Life Certificate?

Life Certificate is also known as Jeevan Pramaan. It is an important document for pensioners that verifies their living status. This document is required to be submitted every year. So that, pension can be given only to eligible recipients. Most pensioners have to submit this certificate in November, but super senior pensioners above 80 years of age can also submit it from October.

How to submit Jeevan Pramaan

Pensioners can use the government’s Jeevan Pramaan portal to submit Jeevan Pramaan.

  • Download the app: Pensioners have to download the Jeevan Pramaan app from the government’s portal.
  • Biometric verification: They have to submit fingerprints through Aadhaar, which is part of the verification process.
  • Verification options: Central government pensioners can also use face authentication, biometric verification, iris scanning or video KYC.
  • Help from India Post: If pensioners need additional help, they can contact India Post Payment Bank, which provides assistance in this process.

How to submit life certificate by face authentication

Step 1:

Pensioners should download the Aadhaar Face RD (Early Access) app from Google Play Store and install it on their Android smartphone. They will also have to download the Jeevan Pramaan app.

Step 2:

Then open the Jeevan Pramaan app and go to the operator authentication screen. Here, fill in the personal information like Aadhaar number, mobile number and email address.

Step 3:

After filling in the information, pensioners will have to enter the one-time password (OTP) sent to the mobile number and email.

Step 4:

The app will now take you to a screen to fill in the Aadhaar number and name. Next, check the box and select the scan option. Click Yes to allow the face scan.

Step 5:

The app will give directions for the face scan, and users will have to check the “I am aware of this” box to continue with it. After this, the app will take their picture.

Step 6:

After operator authentication, the pensioners authentication screen will appear where they will again have to enter Aadhaar number, mobile number and optional email.

Step 7:

Next, users can enter additional details like full name, type of pension, pension authority, agency, PPO number and account number. Verify the details and submit it.

Step 8:

Now users can start the face scan by giving consent for it. After the scanning process is completed, pensioners will receive a Pramaan ID and PPO number on their mobile screen.
