EPFO Update: Now pensioners can submit life certificate anytime during the whole year, which will be valid for the next one year.
New Delhi Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has given a big relief to crores of pensioners of the country. EPFO has announced relaxation in submission of Life Certificate i.e. Life Certificate for pensioners.
Pensioners can submit their Life Certificate at any time. Earlier, in the month of November every year, pensioners had to submit life certificates. To get pension without interruption, pensioners have to give life certificate every year. This shows whether the pensioner is alive or not.
Validity will be one year,
EPFO has given this information by tweeting on its official Twitter handle. It has been said in the tweet that pensioners of EPS-95 can now submit life certificate at any time. It will be valid for 1 year from the date of submission. That is, now crores of pensioners will get freedom from the hassle of submitting life certificate in the month of November itself.

Pensioners can submit their Life Certificate by visiting their nearest Common Service Center. Apart from this, it can also be deposited in banks and post offices.
Can deposit even sitting at home
You can submit life certificate even sitting at home. There is no need to go to the bank or post office for this. According to the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, pensioners can submit a digital life certificate using the doorstep banking alliance of 12 public sector banks or the doorstep service of the Department of Posts.
Elderly pensioners will get relief
The facial recognition authentication will help the elderly pensioners who face difficulties in collecting their biometrics (finger print and eye recognition) due to old age for filing life certificates. The Labor Ministry said in a statement that Union Labor and Employment Minister Bhupendra Yadav launched Face Authentication Technology facility for pensioners.
Earlier, EPFO’s apex body Central Board of Trustees (CBT) in its 231st meeting gave in-principle approval to the proposal for centralized distribution of pension to further improve EPFO services for pensioners. It said that its offering will be in different stages and the modalities will be further developed.
