Why is life certificate necessary?
The reason behind submitting the life certificate is to confirm whether the person receiving pension is alive or not. For the convenience of senior citizens, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) has provided the facility to submit life certificate through face authentication. There are about 69.76 lakh central government pensioners across the country. How to deposit with face authentication
Pensioners have to download Aadhaar Face RD (Early Access) from Google Play Store and install it on their Android smartphone. You will also have to download the Jeevan Pramaan application on your phone.
After opening the ‘Jeevan Pramaan’ application, you have to go to the operator authentication screen. Here personal details including Aadhar number, mobile number and email address will have to be given.
After entering your details, the pensioner will have to submit the One Time Password (OTP) sent to the mobile number and email address.
The app will now take the pensioner to a screen where he has to enter the Aadhaar number and name, check the box and select Scan. Now you have to authorize the face scan and proceed by clicking on Yes.
The app will provide guidelines for the face scan and users will have to select the ‘I am aware of this’ checkbox to continue. After this the app will take a photo of their face.
After operator authentication, a screen will appear for pensioner authentication, where the pensioner will have to enter Aadhaar number, mobile number and optionally email address.
Now users will have to provide additional information like full name, type of pension, sanctioning authority, disbursing agency, PPO number and account number. Additionally, they will have to verify the declaration and submit the information.
After this, users can give consent and permission for face scan. The scanning process will start and on completion the pensioner will receive a proof ID and PPO number on their mobile screen.
