Liquor Price in Delhi: The Excise Commissioner of Delhi has once again allowed the sale of liquor with a discount. After this, private shopkeepers will be able to sell liquor with a discount on MRP.
Private shopkeepers selling liquor in Delhi will now be able to sell liquor cheaply. The Excise Department has allowed private shops selling liquor to give a discount of up to 25 percent on the maximum retail price (MRP). This has been said in a report by news agency PTI. In February, the Delhi government had banned the discount and sale scheme on liquor bottles. This decision was taken due to non-compliance of restrictions related to the prevention of Kovid-19 and unfair treatment in the market.
It is said in the order
The Excise Commissioner of Delhi gave his approval for the sale of liquor with a discount. According to this order, private shops selling liquor in the National Capital Region can give up to 25 percent discount on MRP. During this, section 20 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010 will have to be strictly followed.
Shops that get license to sell liquor in Delhi will have to strictly follow the prescribed terms and conditions and in case of any violation, strict action will be taken against them under the Delhi Excise Act.
However, the order of the Excise Commissioner said, “Government reserves the right to withdraw the discount at any time in view of the public interest. There shall be no compulsion on the Government to continue with the decision of giving discount.”
Was stopped because of this
In the month of February, as the outbreak of the Kovid epidemic continued, due to the discounts being given by private shops on the sale of liquor in Delhi and schemes like ‘buy one, get one free’, there was a huge crowd outside the shops in many areas. Cases came to the fore. After this, the government had banned giving exemption on the sale of liquor.
The Delhi government had implemented the new excise policy in November 2021 itself. Under this, licenses were issued to 849 retail outlets. Under this, licensed shops can give discounts and concessions on the MRP of liquor.
