After that i.e. on May 11 and 12, liquor shops will remain closed. This decision has been taken by the state government in view of the civic body payment in the state. Liquor shops will remain closed

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered a ban on the sale of liquor in shops, pubs and restaurants during the UP civic elections 2023. The move to ban the sale of liquor is believed to have been taken to maintain harmony as many incidents of violence happen after consuming liquor. On May 11, voting will be held in 9 divisions of Meerut, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Basti, Azamgarh and Mirzapur. Earlier on May 4, the first phase of voting has been done. Let us tell you that there are 760 urban local bodies in the state, which include 17 posts of mayor in 17 municipal corporations, 199 posts of chairpersons of municipal councils and 544 posts of city panchayats.
