Entries of locusts have also taken place in Tonk and Sawaimadhopur districts. On June 8, locusts knocked in both these districts and thus now locusts have been entered in 29 out of 33 districts of the state.
The entry of locusts in Tonk and Sawaimadhopur districts was also knocked out by locusts on May 30 in
Alwar district . After 8 days locusts were registered in Tonk and Sawaimadhopur districts. There are only about 6 to 8 districts in which the locust outbreak continues. Jaipur districtThere was no outbreak of locusts for the last about 10 days, but on Friday, a locust team entered the district again. When this locust entered the Kishangarh-Renwal region, the farmers blew locusts by bursting firecrackers along with bursting firecrackers.
So far, even
though efforts are on to control locusts, they are proving insufficient. The locust control organization as well as the agriculture department is working to get control of locusts in collaboration with farmers. According to the statistics of the Agriculture Department, till now locusts have been surveyed in 1 lakh 88 thousand hectare area in the state while locust control is being claimed in 1 lakh 48 thousand hectare area. Locust control has been done at 485 places in the state.
The locust control organization is also mobilized
. The locust control has been done by the locust control organization in 72 thousand 778 hectare area and in this work 71 thousand 851 liters of Malathion 96 percent ULV has been used. At the same time grasshopper control has been done in 75 thousand 465 hectares by the agriculture department with the cooperation of farmers. In this, 25 thousand 266 liters of plant protection chemicals have been used.
Resources and workforce
Every effort is being made to control locusts, but these efforts are proving to be insufficient. While there is an obstacle in locust control over resources and staff, modern resources of locust control are not sufficient. Currently, locusts are being killed by pesticide spraying by mounted sprayers and firefighters, but only 40 per cent of locusts are eradicated.
