Locusts attack: about 10 lakh locusts from Pakistan created panic, state governments engaged in handling the situation

New Delhi In February, the grasshopper team that brought Pakistan to an emergency like situation has increased the problems of farmers as well as common people in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Chhattisgarh, after Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat. They are not only harming the crops, but have also become the cause of people’s problems in the residential areas. In such a situation, along with Uttar Pradesh, the governments of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana and Chhattisgarh have become active to deal with them. Pesticide spraying is being done along with making monitoring committees.



In Uttar Pradesh, monitoring committees have been formed under the chairmanship of the CMO. Orders have been issued to take the help of Revenue Department along with Horticulture and Forest Department besides making Agriculture Department as Nodal Department. On the other hand, a team of locusts started wreaking havoc after reaching Panotha in village Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. With their arrival at six o’clock in the evening, the team arrived from Lalitpur and Mahoba in Uttar Pradesh, through voice and insecticide, stopped the grasshopper team there.

Nearly  1 million locusts from Pakistan  

Authorities have breathed a sigh of relief when the locust of the number of locusts in the country divided into two. UP’s Director of Agriculture, Dr. CP Srivastava, said that there are five to 10 lakh locusts in the team of Pakistani locusts, which destroy crores of crops in one night. In such a situation, a water tanker tractor has been demanded from Lucknow. Before coming from Lucknow, complete preparations have been made to stop them by forming squads in Kanpur countryside, Unnao and Rae Bareli.

Mango and vegetables will be harmed

The mangoes are still planted in the orchards and in the fields are pumpkin, cucumber, melon, watermelon, gourd, bitter gourd and betel crops, which the locust parties can harm. Agriculture Defense Officer Dhananjay Singh said that they attack green leaves and fruits. The greenery will be completely destroyed in the garden or field in which locusts sit. They move with the wind. The female is unable to lay eggs in the rain and is slowly destroyed.

Agri Army ready for ‘surgical strike’ on locusts in UP

In Shahjahanpur of Uttar Pradesh, the administration has prepared agri army for the eradication of locusts along with the formation of monitoring committee. Agri army equipped with 450 tractor mounted sprayers and chemical equipment will eliminate them by ‘surgical strike’ on locusts at night. District Agriculture Officer Dr. Satish Chandra Pathak informed that 450 tractor mounted sprayers have been prepared for eradication of locusts. An arrangement of 4700 liters of insecticides has also been made.



Advice for farmers to be vigilant in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, the Department of Agriculture has issued an alert in the border districts of the state. The Assistant Director of the Central Integrated Drug Management Center has advised the agricultural officials, employees and farmers of the border district to be vigilant. Spraying of pesticides will be done in the affected area of ​​the state.

Sleep in 22 districts of MP

Locusts have killed the farmers in 22 districts of Madhya Pradesh. They have influence in areas ranging from Malwa, Nimar to Mahakoshal-Avadhya. The state’s agriculture department has decided that drones will be sprayed with pesticides on locusts. Farmers are also dealing with this danger at their level. On the other hand, the collectors of the respective districts are assessing the damage done to the crops, so that the affected farmers can be compensated. Officials of the Agriculture Department said that to control the locust contingent, districts have been sanctioned Rs 50 lakh from the Disaster Relief Fund.



Haryana is also worried

In Haryana too, farmers are worried about the arrival of grasshoppers. Hisar and Sirsa are on alert about the locust party due to the borders of Rajasthan and Punjab. Chaudhary Charan Singh, Department of Entomology of Haryana Agricultural University has given important suggestions related to grasshopper protection to farmers.
