LPG cylinder became cheaper by ₹300, know details

Let us inform you that earlier this month, the government had increased the subsidy on LPG sold under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by Rs 100. With this, the total subsidy of the beneficiaries became Rs 300.

Recently, the Central Government had announced to give an additional subsidy of Rs 100 on LPG cylinders to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). In this way the subsidy relief has now become Rs 300. Along with this, the government has also announced to provide 75 lakh new connections under the scheme.

Now Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Pankaj Jain has said that the demand for LPG will remain the same in future also. “As far as switching from LPG to PNG is concerned, the fact is that a new group of LPG customers are coming in first. Both LPG and PNG are growing,” said Pankaj Jain.

Problems of PNG: The Secretary said that the use of PNG as a primary fuel would require a large customer base. Jain said that there are places where PNG has to struggle considering the geographical location of the country. There are still a large number of villages in the country which do not have even 200 houses. PNG may not be viable for these locations.

Relief up to Rs 300: Let us tell you that earlier this month, the government had increased the subsidy on cooking gas (LPG) sold under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) by Rs 100. After this increase, now a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder is being given under the Ujjwala scheme. More than 9 crore families are benefiting from this step. The government is taking such steps to encourage the customers coming under the Ujjwala scheme.
