Crores of families of the country will benefit from this decision taken by the government before the Lok Sabha elections. On Friday morning, PM Modi tweeted, ‘Today on Women’s Day, our government has decided to reduce the prices of LPG cylinders by Rs 100. This will not only make the life of women power easier but will also reduce the financial burden of crores of families. This step will also be helpful in environmental protection, which will also improve the health of the entire family.
How much will the cylinder cost now?
Currently, the price of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder in New Delhi is Rs 903. Now the government has reduced it by Rs 100. After this the price of the cylinder will reduce to Rs 803. Whereas the beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will get the subsidy of Rs 300, they will get this cylinder for Rs 603. As per rules, the government pays Rs 300 for eligible beneficiaries for up to 12 refills of LPG cylinder in a year.
Plan continues till March 2025
Earlier, in the cabinet meeting on Thursday evening, it was decided to extend the subsidy of Rs 300 on Ujjwala scheme for one year. Now this subsidy will continue till 31 March 2025. Under this, the women beneficiaries of Ujjwala scheme will get 12 cylinders annually. Announcing the extension of the scheme for one year, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that the Cabinet has approved to continue the subsidy of Rs 300 to the customers of PM Ujjwala Yojana till March 31, 2025. The total expenditure on this will be Rs 12,000 crore.
