In this way, now the price of cylinder in the country’s capital Delhi has become Rs 603. Till now the beneficiaries were getting LPG cylinder for Rs 703.
Let us tell you that Ujjwala scheme was started by Prime Minister Modi in May 2016. The beneficiaries of the scheme are given a gas cylinder and a gas stove free of cost for the first time. Till now the government used to give a subsidy of Rs 200 on domestic gas cylinders to the beneficiaries of the scheme. Now it has been increased by Rs 100. With this the total new subsidy has become Rs 300.
Cylinder cheaper by Rs 500 compared to a month ago
Let us tell you that till the last week of last August, general customers in Delhi were getting domestic LPG cylinder for Rs 1103. After this, the government made a big cut by making it cheaper by Rs 200 and the price of the cylinder became Rs 903. At the same time, customers coming under Ujjwala scheme were getting domestic cylinder for Rs 703. Now after the new cut, the price of the cylinder has become Rs 603. In this way, within a month the beneficiaries are getting the cylinder at a price Rs 500 less than that of normal customers.
How many beneficiaries so far: Under this scheme, 75 lakh new LPG connections will be given to women for the next 3 years. With 75 lakh new connections, the total number of women benefiting under the scheme will increase to 10.35 crore. Let us tell you that the purpose of this scheme was to protect women cooking with wood or other methods from smoke.
