LPG Customers eKYC: To prevent any kind of fraud by the oil and marketing companies, e-KYC of LPG customers is being done. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has made a big announcement for the customers who have not done e-KYC till now.
LPG Customer: If you also have an LPG gas cylinder connection, then you will definitely get relief by hearing this news. Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has given a big relief to those taking LPG connection. Union Minister Puri made it clear that there is no time limit for doing eKYC for LPG cylinder. He gave this answer in response to a letter from VD Satheesa, Leader of Opposition in Kerala Legislative Assembly on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
‘KYC process is going on for more than 8 months’
Satisan had said through a letter that KYC is necessary but the need to do it at the concerned gas agencies causes trouble to regular LPG customers. On this, Hardeep Singh Puri replied that Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are implementing eKYC for LPG customers to eliminate fake accounts and prevent fake booking of commercial gas cylinders. However, Puri also clarified that the process of eKYC has been going on for more than eight months.

He said, its purpose is only to ensure that only real customers get LPG service. Explaining the process, Puri also said that at the time of delivery of LPG cylinder, the gas agency employee verifies the customer’s documents. The person delivering the cylinder captures the customer’s Aadhaar credentials through an app on his mobile. In this entire process, an OTP comes on the customer’s registered mobile number, which can be used to complete the process. Customers can also contact the distributor’s showroom as per their convenience.
Oil Marketing Companies are undertaking eKYC aadhar authentication for LPG customers to remove bogus customers against whose name commercial cylinders are often booked by certain gas distributors. This process is in place for more than 8 months now.

No time limit to complete eKYC
Apart from this, there is also an option that customers can complete their KYC process themselves by installing the app of oil marketing companies. Puri also said that there is no time limit to complete eKYC from the oil marketing companies or the central government. The companies also clarified that it is not necessary for the customer to go to the showroom of the LPG distributor for this work. He also said that the oil companies are also issuing clarification in this matter to reassure the customers and to ensure that no genuine customer faces any kind of trouble or inconvenience.
