In the review of LPG to be held on December 1, there is every possibility that the prices of cylinders will come down. This is because the prices in the international market have come down.
Apart from this, in view of the assembly elections to be held in 5 states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab next year, there is a strong possibility that the Modi government will make gas cheaper like petrol and diesel. Earlier due to reduction in excise duty and VAT from Diwali, there was a huge reduction in the price of petrol and diesel.
However, before Diwali, a price bomb exploded on LPG. There was a huge increase in the price of LPG gas cylinder by Rs 266, although it was a matter of relief that this increase was done only in commercial cylinders. There was no change in the price of domestic LPG cylinder.
Even today the commercial cylinder in Delhi is beyond Rs 2000. Earlier it was Rs 1733. A 19 kg cylinder available in Mumbai for Rs 1683 became Rs 1950. At the same time, the 19 kg Indane gas cylinder in Kolkata has become Rs 2073.50. Now in Chennai, Rs 2133 has to be spent for a cylinder of 19 kg.
