LPG eKYC Update: No deadline for LPG eKYC compliance, says Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi: The central government can make a big announcement regarding the subsidy on LPG gas in the upcoming budget. Under the new guidelines, only people from the economically weaker sections will be kept under the purview of subsidy.

Apart from this, the government can also bring a new proposal regarding the sudden increase in the prices of LPG gas, under which the oil companies will bear the burden of the sudden increase in the price of gas.

However, when gas prices come down, then companies can also compensate for their cost.

There may be a cut in the budget of LPG subsidy

  • In the upcoming budget, the Finance Ministry can make a huge cut in the budget to be allocated for LPG subsidy. For this, the Finance Ministry can soon pass a resolution.
  • For the financial year 2021-22, the central government has allocated 14,073 crore for LPG subsidy. But for the last one year, the central government has banned the LPG subsidy given to the customers.
