Mann ki Awaaz Pratigya actor Anupam Shyam passes away at 63

Actor Anupam Shyam passed away today at the age of 63 due to multiple organ failure in Mumbai. The actor was suffering from kidney ailment for the past few years and was admitted to the hospital about a week ago. Admitted to the critical care unit of a city hospital, his health deteriorated on Sunday.




Actor Yashpal Sharma, a close friend of Anupam Shyam, told that the veteran actor died at Lifeline Hospital in Goregaon at around 1.30 am. “I have just returned home from the hospital. Doctors told us that he died due to multi organ failure. His body will be brought to his residence New Dindoshi, MHADA Colony at 5-6 am, followed by the last rites at around 11:30-12 am in the day.

He said that he had reached the hospital after reading the news of the actor’s demise. On reaching there, he noticed that he was breathing, however, the doctors soon declared him brought dead. “I found out that he is not. So we reached here and found that he was still breathing. Later the doctor declared him dead. He was hospitalized for 4 days. His blood sugar was high and he He used to take injections during the shooting of his last film.

Rajan Shahi, Producer of Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya 2, said in a statement, “I am deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Anupam Shyamji. May his family get all the strength to overcome this difficult time. I remember when we did Pratigya. Having started with Season 2, he was overjoyed to be working again and playing his favorite character, Sajjan Singh. He was always so lively and full of enthusiasm and will be remembered for his remarkable performances. May his soul rest in peace.”

Last year, Anupam Shyam suffered a health issue and his brother had to appeal for financial assistance. The actor recovered and recently joined the cast of Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya 2 as Sajjan Singh. He had said that when he went for regular dialysis, his health had improved.




Known for playing the antagonist, she made her Hindi film debut in 1996 with Shyam Benegal’s Sardari Begum. He later acted in films like Dil Se, Satya, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Zakhm, Dushman and Slumdog Millionaire.

When he made his television debut with Benegal’s Amaravati Ki Katha, he rose to fame as Thakur Sajjan Singh in Mann Ki Awaaz Pratigya (2009–2012). He returned as the same character in the second iteration of the show. He was also seen in shows like Rishtey, Doli Armano Ki, Krishna Chali London and Hum Ne Li Hai-Shapath.
