New Delhi, Auto Desk. Maruti Suzuki Swift has been a very popular product in the Indian market for over 15 years and has also been the best selling car in the premium segment. Not only this, since the first launch in 2015, the company has so far sold more than 2.2 million units in the Indian market. Currently its third generation model is available for sale in the Indian market which the company launched during the 2018 Auto Expo and it competes hard in the Indian market with the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo. Like other car manufacturers, Maruti has also updated its updated Swift to BS6 emission norms. According to sources, the company is now working on the powerful version of its Swift, in which the company can offer 1.2 liter dual jet petrol engine.
The 1.2 liter dual jet petrol engine is similar to what we have seen in Maruti’s premium hatchback Baleno before and now the company is going to revamp the engine with a new look. The most important thing is that in Swift, the company will now provide Maruti’s Smart Hybrid System (SHVS) technology which will increase the mileage compared to the current variants. Apart from the mileage, if you compare the engine with the current model, it will be quite powerful and the dual jet engine will generate 89bhp of power and 113Nm of torque.

Let me tell you, before the BS6 model of Swift, it used to come with both petrol and diesel engine options. However, Maruti has removed the Fiat’s 1.3-liter diesel engine from all its cars and now the company is replacing all its cars with petrol engines. The Swift is currently coming with a 1.2-liter VVT petrol BS6 engine, which generates 82 bhp of power and 113 Nm of torque. This engine comes with both manual and automatic gearbox options.
A sporty version of Maruti Swift is already present in some international markets. It is being planned to launch soon in the Indian market as well. It may be that the company discontinues the existing variants, or that along with the existing variants, customers can also get new variants alternatively.
