Nowadays masked Aadhar cards have started coming. In which only the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number are visible. Means the first 8 digits of the base number like “xxxx-xxxx” will not be visible. In Masked Aadhaar, the original Aadhaar number remains hidden. This means that no one can misuse it.
How to download masked aadhar
If you want to download Masked Aadhar Card, then for this your mobile number must be registered on the official website of UIDAI. To download Masked Aadhaar, you have to follow these steps.
- First of all, go to the UIDAI website and go to the ‘Download Aadhaar’ option.
- Now you have to select the option of Aadhar / VID / Enrollment ID and tick the Masked Aadhar option.
- Enter the required details in the given section and click on ‘Request OTP’.
- An OTP will be sent to your Aadhaar linked mobile number.
- Enter the OTP, enter other details and click on ‘Download Aadhaar’.
- After this you can download your Masked Aadhaar.
- Password will be on download Aadhaar card
Through this process, the Aadhar card that will be downloaded in your system in PDF format, it will be secured through a password. You have to enter this password to open the Aadhar card file. This will be the first four letters of your name in the password and then the year of birth. For example, if someone’s name is ramesh and date of birth is 27/08/1996, then his password will be rame1996.
Can be used to identify
Masked Aadhaar can be used for identification if required. However, it cannot be used for availing benefits under any government schemes.
