Dehradun: After witnessing a spell of heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours, the regional meteorological centre on Sunday issued a fresh warning of heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand on September 16.

Incidentally, several places in Uttarakhand, including Dehradun and Mussoorie, received heavy showers between Saturday night and Sunday morning, causing considerable damage to property.
The rain data of Met office shows that both Dehradun and Mussoorie received 60 mm rain each, within couple of hour’s duration on Saturday night. In Kumaon region, Kapkot in Bageshwar district and Haldwani in Nainital district witnessed 50 mm and 40 mm rain, respectively.
“With monsoon entering its final phase, we will witness sudden downpour lasting not more than an hour. The rainfall on Saturday night is an example of such spontaneous spell of showers. We will no longer witness long spells of rain now,” said Bikram Singh, director, regional meteorological centre.
Singh added that isolated places in Kumaon region will continue witnessing such spells on Monday and gradually the rain will start reducing across the state by the end of week.
