To prevent the spread of the Covid epidemic, Kolkata Metro has temporarily banned the issuance of tokens from 3 January i.e. today till further notice.
Kolkata Metro update: In view of the increasing transition of new variants of Corona and Corona Omicron, restrictions have started again. All the state governments are imposing restrictions at their own level to prevent the spread of infection. In this sequence, the West Bengal government has banned the use of tokens in the Kolkata Metro train service.
The Government of West Bengal has issued a notification regarding some restrictions and exemptions under the Disaster Management Act 2005. According to the notification, Kolkata Metro Railway is going to temporarily suspend the issuance of tokens from Monday. Apart from this, the passenger capacity in the metro train has been increased to 50 percent. There will be no change in the hours of Metro service.
Following this order, only smart card holders will be able to travel in the metro. Because the metro counter will issue only the smart card and cardholders will be able to recharge their card as before.
Chief Minister’s program canceled
The Kolkata Municipal Corporation and the West Bengal Health Department, while issuing a system alert, have appealed to all the associates to take necessary steps for the prevention of corona virus infection. On January 3, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was going to attend a government program but this program has been canceled.
Kolkata High Court and District Court have decided to start court proceedings through virtual medium from January 3.
State Health Secretary Narayan Swaroop Nigam said that through ‘System Alert’, the hospital, health management, district administration and police force have been put on alert so that the plan of action can be kept ready in view of the increase in corona infection.
Cases are increasing continuously
Meanwhile, according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday, 2,590 new Kovid cases have been reported in West Bengal in the last 24 hours. The total number of Kovid patients in the state has gone up to 13,300. In Kolkata also the number of Kovid patients is increasing continuously. According to the data of the Ministry of Health, the weekly positivity rate in Kolkata has increased to 12.5 percent. At the same time, the weekly positivity rate has increased to 5.47 percent in the state.
The cabinet minister of West Bengal, Arup Biswas has also been found infected with the corona virus and is hospitalized in private.
