Mobile SIM Card Rules DoT The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has made major changes in the rules for taking mobile SIM. To activate the SIM card of any company, you will no longer need to hand over a lot of documents and neither will you have to go around again and again. Under the new rule, you will be able to easily activate the SIM card through OTP. However, now those below 18 years of age will not be issued SIM cards by any telecom operator in the country.
Actually, the Department of Telecommunications has given green signal to Digital KYC. The Department of Telecommunications said that SIM cards should not be issued to minors in India. It is clear that now no person below the age of 18 years can buy a SIM card from any telecom operator in the country. At the same time, people whose mental condition is not good, such people have also been banned from issuing SIM cards. If this happens, then the telecom operator will be held guilty for this.
The eKYC and Self KYC process has been started by the Department of Telecommunications to get a mobile SIM. Under this, a new mobile connection can be obtained sitting at home. Also, there will be no need to change SIM for porting SIM from pre-paid to postpaid and postpaid to pre-paid. Through the network provider company app, users will be able to do KYC themselves and for this, customers will be charged only one rupee. Through digital KYC, customers will be able to activate the SIM by just sitting at home with a one time password.
Companies will have to implement the new process within 30 days. Earlier, TRAI had issued guidelines regarding tariff. In which companies were instructed to be transparent about mobile plans. Also, no information should be hidden, give clear information about it. The company will have to provide all the information so that the customer does not remain confused about the plan. According to the tariff rules of TRAI, it will be necessary for companies to tell SMS, voice call, data limit. Apart from this, information about validity and bill deadline will also have to be given clearly.
Under the new guideline, customers will have to fill up a Customer Acquisition Form (CAF) to buy a new SIM. This is usually an agreement between the telecom company and the customer. This form has now been amended, according to which the age of purchasing the SIM card should not be less than 18 years. Apart from this, if the mental state of a person is not good, then the SIM card cannot be sold to him.
