The Ministry of Communications has issued an order to make the rules for getting a new mobile SIM and changing from prepaid to postpaid and postpaid to prepaid very easy. According to the order issued by the Ministry of Communications, if you want to get a new mobile SIM sitting at home, then it will be possible now. For this, you only have to fill the application form on the app or website of the company whose SIM card is to be taken.
While filling the form, the applicant will have to fill an alternate number on which the authenticity of the applicant can be checked by sending OTP. The condition has also been laid that the mobile company will be able to verify all the information about the applicant only from the information received through DigiLocker or Aadhaar. In the event of the company taking information from Aadhaar, it will be necessary to take the consent of the applicant.

The applicant will also have to upload his photograph and a video on his form. After the completion of the entire process, an inactive SIM will be supplied to the subscriber at the given address and the SIM card can be activated after completing certain procedures and verifications.
It has also been decided to give a great convenience to those consumers who go to the market and take a new mobile SIM card from a shop or showroom of a mobile service company. Now any document will not be required for this. At present, to get a SIM, Aadhaar or any other document has to be submitted along with the application.
Consent of consumers is mandatory for using Aadhaar
Now for a new mobile connection, a new SIM can be given to the consumers only through the information received from Aadhaar. Mobile companies will have to spend Re 1 per transaction to get information from Aadhaar. In this case also, it has been made mandatory to obtain the consent of the consumers for using Aadhaar.
Similarly, it has been made very easy to convert mobile prepaid connection to postpaid or postpaid connection to prepaid. For this, verification will have to be done through OTP only.
