Mumbai airport released new guidelines! Airport will be temporarily closed on this day, passenger check immediately

Mumbai Airport Closed: The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport of the country’s financial capital Mumbai will be temporarily closed for a few hours on May 8. Know how long the operations will remain closed-

Flights will be closed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai from 11 am to 5 pm on May 8. This announcement has been made by the airport operator MIAL. This decision has been taken due to necessary maintenance before the monsoon. Both runways will remain closed during this time.

The Mumbai Airport Administration has decided to completely stop the movement of aircraft for six hours on May 8 to carry out necessary repair work before the upcoming monsoon. According to the Mumbai Airport spokesperson, both runways will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm on this day and during this time the runway, drainage system and about 5,000 lights will be checked and repaired. This work is being done to keep the operation of aircraft safe and smooth during the rainy season. Airlines were informed about this six months in advance for the convenience of passengers. Air traffic will become normal again from the same evening as soon as the repair work is completed.

What the airport authority said

According to MIAL, both runways – 09/27 (main runway) and 14/32 (second runway) will be closed from 11 am to 5 pm. This is being done for necessary pre-monsoon checks. The airport authority said that they had issued NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) six months in advance. This means that airlines were informed in advance. So that they can change the timing of their flights and passengers can plan their travel in advance.

This maintenance is necessary before monsoon

This maintenance is necessary every year before the monsoon. This keeps the runway safe during the rainy season. During this, experts will check for any damage or breakage on the runway surface. They will also work to prevent waterlogging. This will ensure that airplanes can land and take off safely even during the monsoon. According to the information received, the airport administration is fully prepared. So, if you have a flight from Mumbai on May 8, then definitely check once, whether the time of your flight has changed or not?
