This includes upgradation of Runway Edge Lights (AGL) and many other works.
According to the Mumbai airport, this is a routine work that is done every year after the monsoon. According to the statement, 800 airplanes take off and land at the airport every day and runway maintenance is done every year to keep the movement smooth and for the safety of the passengers. The airport says that after talks with airline customers, their trips have been re-scheduled so that the repair work can be completed with ease.
Uses Green Energy
Let us tell you that the operation of this airport is in the hands of a company of Adani Group. The airport says that it uses green energy sources to meet the energy needs at the airport. The airport generates 5 percent of its energy requirement there, while 95 percent of it is generated from hydro and wind energy and imported there. Mumbai airport is the first airport in the country which is working completely on green energy since April. This year the airport had installed a hybrid solar mill of 10 kW peak. Due to which at least 36 kW of solar and wind power is generated every day.
Flights were diverted on Friday
Let us tell you that last week 8 flights were diverted at Mumbai Airport on Friday. Light drizzle and low visibility were cited as the reason behind it. All flights were rescheduled for that day. The passengers who had to suffer because of this were provided refreshments at the airport.
