Mumbai e-water taxi: Another transportation option will be available for Mumbaikars. E-water taxi service is starting in Mumbai soon.
The country’s first electric water taxi will now run in Mumbai . This taxi service will be operated between Gateway of India and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). This service will be beneficial for the transportation of JNPT employees. After an agreement between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilding Limited (MDL) and JNPT, this service will be started regularly from next month. Notably, this initiative will add another thorn in the side of Mumbai.
Traffic congestion in Mumbai is a big problem and efforts are being made to prioritize waterways as a solution. For this, water taxi and ropeway ferry services were started earlier. However, due to the rising prices of petrol and diesel and the expensive ticket prices, Mumbaikars did not respond to these services. Against this backdrop, the concept of electronic taxi has come forward.
Indian-made e-taxi
Meanwhile, initially, there was a thought of buying this e-taxi from abroad. However, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilding Limited (MDA) decided to manufacture electric water taxis on its own. They have also successfully completed their manufacture. They will be providing the service of two electric water taxis manufactured by ‘MDL’ themselves. Due to this, a new transportation option has been made available for Mumbaikars.
How is the e-water taxi?
