Central Railway is going to run Air Conditioned Local Trains (Mumbai AC Local Trains) from 1st December on Harbor line between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Panvel. Initially their number will be 12. A railway official says that these AC local trains will run in lieu of all the existing local trains running on the Harbor Line. However, it has also been said that these AC trains will not run on Sundays and holidays.
At present, 10 AC local trains are operating between CSMT and Kalyan. At the same time, 16 AC trains are running on the Trans Harbor line. Apart from this, 20 AC local trains are being operated on the Western Line. The Central Railway has also decided to change the timing of local trains running on the Harbor Line, Trans Harbor Line and Belapur Nerul Kharkopar Fourth Corridor of Mumbai’s suburban rail service from December 1.
A railway official said that all CSMT-Andheri local train services and Panvel-Andheri services will be extended up to Goregaon station. According to officials, the total number of local services to and from Goregaon will increase from 42 to 106 and the total number of services to and from Bandra will increase to 86, making it possible for passengers to travel via Navi Mumbai and Central Line. .
