Mumbai Local Trains: It has been decided to increase the number of AC local services in Mumbai Local from 6th November. For this, 17 new AC services will be added.
Mumbai Local: In view of the popularity of AC local trains and increasing demand of passengers, Western Railways has decided to increase the number of AC local services on the Mumbai suburban section from Monday, November 6, 2023. With the introduction of 17 new AC services on Western Railway, the total number of AC services will now increase from 79 to 96. Additionally, to meet the demand of Dahanu local passengers, a pair of Dahanu Road-Andheri local is being extended up to Churchgate station.
17 new AC local trains
According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railways, there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers traveling by AC local trains. Therefore, for the convenience of passengers and to accommodate the crowd, 17 more AC services are being increased on Western Railway. These services will run as AC services from Monday to Friday and as non-AC services on Saturday and Sunday.
There will be no change in the total number of local train services, meaning the total number of services including 96 AC local train services will remain 1394. Additionally, train number DN93004/DN93007 which currently runs between Dahanu Road and Andheri stations will be extended up to Churchgate station. As a result, timings of some suburban services will be changed.
New trains will run on these routes
In this regard, Thakur further said that out of the additional 17 services being started, 9 services are in the up direction and 8 services are in the down direction. In the up direction, there is one service each between Nalasopara-Churchgate, Virar-Borivali and Bhayander-Borivali, two services between Virar-Churchgate and four services between Borivali-Churchgate. Similarly, in the down direction, there is one service each between Churchgate-Bhayander and Borivali-Virar, three services each between Churchgate-Virar and Churchgate-Borivali.
