Indian Railway: Railways has given great relief to the passengers in the financial capital of the country, Mumbai. Railways has reduced fares in Mumbai’s local AC trains by up to 50 percent. This was announced by the Union Minister of State for Railways, Raosaheb Danve.
Mumbai Local Trains: Giving relief to the public amid rising inflation, the Railways has now decided to charge half the fare from passengers traveling in local AC trains. Union Minister of State for Railways Raosaheb Danve announced on Friday that fares of AC local trains in Mumbai will be reduced by 50 percent. Danve made this announcement at the inauguration of the renovated heritage building of Byculla railway station. Maharashtra’s Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis was also present on the occasion.
Union Minister of State for Railways announced
Danve said the minimum fare for an AC train for a distance of five kilometers will be reduced from Rs 65 to Rs 30. The Union Minister said that the public had been demanding for a long time to reduce the fare of AC local train in Mumbai and they had received suggestions to reduce the existing fare by at least 20-30 percent.
Around 80 AC local trains run in Mumbai.
About 80 AC local trains run daily on the Central and Western Railway routes in Mumbai zone. According to Danve, the fare between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT)-Thane (34 km) will be reduced to Rs 90 from the current Rs 130.
Up to 50% discount on rent
The minister said the fare between CSMT-Kalyan (54 km) has been reduced from Rs 210 to Rs 105, between Churchgate-Borivali (34 km) from Rs 130 to Rs 90 and between Churchgate-Vasai Road (52 km) to Rs 210. 105 will be reduced from Rs.
AC local train started in 2017
It is worth noting that in December 2017, AC local train was started in Mumbai. This was the first AC local train in India. The first AC local train in Mumbai was run on the Borivali-Churchgate route. Later AC trains have been started on other routes also.
