India’s financial capital Mumbai remains at the top as the most expensive city. Mumbai has left behind a city like Delhi. According to a report by Mercer Survey 2024 on Cost of Living, Mumbai is at the first position in Asia and Delhi is at the second position. Here it is the most expensive city in terms of both expenses and cost of living. Mumbai has climbed 6 places in the ranking, while Delhi has moved up 2 places. Mumbai is now ranked 21st in Asia for expatriates, while Delhi is at the 30th position among the places surveyed.

Even though Mumbai and Delhi are the most expensive cities in India, they do not even figure in the 30th most expensive cities worldwide. Hong Kong has once again topped the list of the world’s most expensive city to live in.

Mumbai is ranked 136th in the world

According to Mercer’s 2024 Cost of Living Report, Mumbai has climbed 11 places to reach 136th position globally. New Delhi (164) is up 4 places, Chennai (189) is down 5 places, Bengaluru (195) is down 6 places, Hyderabad (202) is stable, Pune (205) is up 8 places and Kolkata (207) is up 4 places.
