These days a new call merging scam has come to the fore and a warning has been issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) about it. Let us tell you how your bank account can be emptied through this scam.
In the call merging scam, a call is made to the users from an unknown number and claims that he has got your number from a phone. After this, you are told that you have to talk about something important and after merging the call, the real scam begins. Now NPCI has informed the users about this scam and asked them to be aware of it. Being alert is the only way to avoid this scam.
How does a call merging scam happen?
First of all, the scammer calls from an unknown number and says that someone you know has given your number. After this, he says that your friend is also calling you from the next number and merge that call. After this call is merged, the scammer gets access to your bank’s OTP verification call and he can withdraw money from the account.

If you want to protect yourself from such scams, then be cautious about calls coming from any unknown number. If someone claims to be your friend, your friend’s acquaintance or a bank employee, then confirm his identity. Remember, do not merge the call under any circumstances unless you yourself want to do it and do not recognize the people on the call.
If you receive any unknown transaction OTP, then immediately call 1930 and report it.
